He watched a couple of apprentices, acting like kits as they tumbled playfully together on the frosty ground, until they were scowled at by an elder who was trying to catch a nap in the dying rays of sunlight that were being blotted out by low, gray clouds. Her voice snapped him out of his thoughts and he focused on her again, his tail twitching thoughtfully at her words, and a new hope brought his yellow eyes to life.
"That could actually work on my part."He purred, "Can we try that next time?"He suddenly asked, a little shy for the first time around her. He figured that few other cats would be readily willing to try the new technique, except maybe the cat that came up with it, and his only true friend in the clan.

"Of course we can. And maybe we can get a couple of apprentices and teach them how to do it after we perfect it." It was always a good idea to learn new techniques, whether the cat was older or young. The more variation in your techniques the better hunter you were. And if you could adapt to different situations then your chances of success were higher.
