The little she-cat sat, the tip of her tail quivering with excitement. Today would be her first day out training as an apprentice with her mentor. She was thrilled to get the chance to learn new things and prove herself to her clan.
Her eyes were bright as she scanned the landscape for any sign of her mentor. So far she hadn't seen so much as a speck of dust move or a rock slide down the mountain side. Still, she waited as patiently as she could, already trying to prove herself to her mentor.
Blazestorm was the cat she was waiting for. A respected she-cat among their clan but also a bit feared because of the problems she sometimes had with her temper. It was a bit intimidating but Echopaw was determined to please her mentor. If she was honest, she hadn't really encountered the fiery she-cat much before, only seeing her in passing around camp.
Rising to her paws, she stretched, loosening up her muscles. She didn't know what they would be doing today but she needed to be as loose and prepared as she could be. There was no use in tearing a muscle her first day of training. Above her a bird flew past, its dark shadow falling across her for a split second before it passed. Her ears flattened and she clenched her muscles. Her eyes flew up and she relaxed as she saw it was a harmless rock dove. Cats here watched the sky for hawks and eagles, though the large birds rarely attacked. It was better to be safe then sorry.
With a sigh she turned, finding a low ledge just above her head. With only a second's preparation she leaped. Perhaps from here she could see her mentor coming.
