Tears welled in the she-cat's eyes and she fought against them. She dipped her head, looking at the ground for a moment and thinking over Crimsonstar's words. "Thank you." She still wasn't sure what she would do or what the future would hold, but she would try her hardest to make her kits happy, even if they were among the ranks of Starclan.

Crimsonstar smiled and looked up at the morning sky, "we should get back to camp before the clan starts to wonder where we are." Crimsonstar looked around for the first time to see just how far they where from camp. Great we are almost to our boarder with Thunderclan. It will be a long time before we get back to camp. Her stomach growled and reminded her she had not eaten since yesterday morning. She looked over at Brokenshard hoping she hadn't heard her leaders stomach.

The tortoiseshell she-cat nodded, rising to her paws she turned around and began to walk toward camp. Her own stomach grumbled angrily and she realized it had been awhile since she had last eaten. Raising her nose to the air she sniffed, hoping to find prey scent nearby.
Her ears swiveled, locking onto a sound nearby. It was small, just the scratching of tiny claws against leaves, but it was enough for her to pinpoint her prey. Sinking into a crouch with her paws tucked neatly under her she began to slink forward, moving silently. Once she was within reach she pounced, powerful leg muscles propelling her forward. Her claws sunk into the soft flesh of the mouse and she killed it with a quick bite to the neck.
Carrying it carefully in her jaws she returned to her leader's side, dropping the mouse before her paws. "That's for making you lose your last one."

"Thank you," Crimsonstar meowed dipping her head to the she-cat. She took a mouth full of the mouse. It tasted like the forest, its warmth slowly filling her mouth. This made being a warrior all worth while. She wouldn't get to experience such things as this if she lived the life of a kittypet. Crimsonstar wanted to eat all of the mouse but she knew Brokenshard was hungry as well. She past the mouse over to Brokenshard. "Here you can have the rest." She might seem like a cold leader at times, but Crimsonstar was not completely heartless. She cared for her clan and she wanted Brokenshard to have her strength up for the long trip home.

Brokenshard dipped her head in thanks before finishing the last of the mouse. Rising to her feet she buried its remains, quickly covering it up so they could continue on. With few swipes of her tongue across her paw which she then drew across her face she had cleaned up and was ready to go. She waited patiently though, for her leader to begin, letting her take the lead and decide when they would begin to travel again.

Crimsonstar got up after grooming herself. "Lets get moving," she meowed walking toward camp. They would be lucky to get back before the night patrol went out. I hope everything at camp is running smoothly with out me there. She picked up her pace, she never liked to be away from camp for to long. She was still happy though, happy that she could help out a clan member. She hoped Brokenshard would be happier.

She followed quietly behind her leader, taking in the forest around her. On the Shadowclan side of the border the trees were all still green, and they would remain that way evermore. But farther off in the distance she could see the brilliant reds, oranges, and yellows of other leaves from different trees.
Looking to her more immediate surroundings life was starting to fade. The trees might be green still but the undergrowth was starting to fade, loosing its lush green color and turning dull. Eventually it would all turn brown and then the small leaves from the bushes would fall, leaving little cover for any creature. And then the snow would come, and the entire lake territory would be covered in a blinding white. Prey would be harder to find and keeping warm wouldn't be easy. Streams would freeze over, making them travel to the lake for water. Leafbare was always hard on the clans.
But for now life was still abundant, and busier then ever as it collected what it could to store up for the cold Leafbare months. It almost made pray easier to catch, as it was preoccupied with gathering seeds and nuts.
Dragging her focus back to the present she continued to walk, scenting the air for anything, whether it be danger or prey.
