Moonlight filled the Shadowclan camp, a dark orange she-cat stepped out side her den. The she-cat made her way to the entrance of the camp hoping for a chance to be alone to clear her head. Dead dry leaves that had fallen crunched under nether her paw steps as she left the camp. Her yellow eyes scanned the undergrowth for any signs of prey. She locked on to a shrew that had found a nut to nibble on. She moved closer to her prey when a noise from behind scared the shrew away. "Fox dung" she hissed under her breath, sitting up she turned her head around to see what had scared away her midnight snack.

The tortoiseshell she-cat jumped back, hissing, her small frame shaking. She hadn't meant to run into another cat out here at this hour let alone her leader. The small she-cat had been wandering around, not really sure what to do but not wanting to be in camp either. And here she was, standing before the most powerful cat in her clan after scaring away her prey. Brokenshard took a few steps backward before turning and darting away into the undergrowth, trying to get as far from her leader and her clan as possible.

Crimsonstar hissed annoyed that a Brokenshard had scared away her prey and then ran off with out saying a word. She ran after the she-cat trying to find where she went. "Brokenshard you moused brained fool get back here." She yelled as loud as she could into the forest ahead of her. She scanned the forest for any signs of the she-cat. She let out a small hiss when she lost Brokenshard's scent trail. She stopped in a small clearing trying to pick up Brokenshard's scent. She was lucky and picked up the scent fast, once she found it she took off running in the direction Brokenshard had gone. "This is the last thing I wanted to be doing tonight" she growled, as she ran through the forest. And for Brokenshard's sake she better have a good explanation when I catch up to her. She thought as she continued to run through the dark forest.

The little she-cat sprinted away, terrified of the cat chasing after her. She hadn't meant to scare away her leader's prey, in fact she hadn't even known her leader was out of camp. She wasn't sure what her leader was going to do to her, but it surely wouldn't be good no matter what it was. She wished she could just leaved the clan, it would be better for everyone. But she couldn't abandon the clan that she had born and raised in. Darting up a tree, she hoped Crimsonstar wouldn't notice and would just keep and running.

Crimsonstar growled as she lost track of Brokenshard's scent again. She walked back to where she last had Brokenshard's scent. "Where are you," she meowed trying to pick up the she-cats scent. Finally she thought as she picked up the scent again, she walked over to the tree that Brokenshard was in and sat down under it. "So Brokenshard are you going to come down and talk to me?" She meowed, angry she spent most of her night trying to track down Brokenshard.

Brokenshard cursed under her breath, not wanting to come down and face her leader but really had no choice. She glanced around, trying to find some way out of her predicament. But she saw nothing, there were no trees close enough for her to jump into. The tip of her tail twitched with nervousness.
With a deep breath she leaped down from the tree, landing lightly on her paws a few tail lengths from Crimsonstar. She backed away, trying to put some room between herself and her angry leader. She jumped with fright as she bumped into a bush, her claws outstretched thinking it was an attacker. The fur on her back stood up, and she looked larger then she really was. Trying to calm herself, she forced her fur to lie flat. Her brilliant green eyes were locked on the ground as she didn't dare make eye contact with Crimsonstar. She waited silently for her leader to tell her what her punishment would be.

Crimsonstar stood back as Brokenshard came down the tree. "Relax Brokenshard, what am I going to do with you Brokenshard." She meowed with a sigh, she looked up at the sky that was now turning light blue with the rising sun. "All I want to know is why you where out of camp. You know you shouldn't run away from your leader like that." She meowed trying to sound as friendly as possible. She looked at the Brokenshard trying to sound friendly for her was not the easiest thing for her.
I have to be as nice as possible maybe it will calm Brokenshard down, Crimsonstar thought to herself. It was hard for her to show kindness. Deep down she just wanted to yell at Brokenshard for scaring away her prey then making her chase after her the rest of the night.

The timid she-cat watched her leader, her ears flat against her head in fright. "I...I...I couldn't...sleep so I...was walking....in....the forest." She crouched low to the ground, her tail wrapped tightly around her paws.
She hoped her leader wouldn't be too mad at her. She really hadn't meant to scare away Crimsonstar's prey, in fact she had figured she was the only cat out at this time of night. And what was her leader doing out this late. Her mind whirled with suspicions of her own, wondering what exactly Crimsonstar was planning.

"Thats fine that you where out in the forest, It still doesn't give you a reason to run away from your leader like that though." Crimsonstar hissed, her fur rising up along her back. She quickly calmed her self down, remembering she was dealing with Brokenshard. "I'm not going to give you a punishment this time, just don't do it again." Crimsonstar meowed looking up at the morning sky. "Are you truly happy living in Shadowclan Brokenshard?" Crimsonstar meowed looking back at the she-cat hoping to learn more about what was on her mind.

The little she-cat stared at her feet, growing uncomfortable being under her leader's gaze. In truth, she wasn't sure she could ever be happy, no matter where she was. She was pretty much useless to her clan but she couldn't just desert them either. They were the closest she had to a family and she had grown up her entire life with them. "I...I don't know." She didn't want to say anything that would get her leader even more angry with her but she didn't want to lie to her either.

The Shadowclan leader sighed, it sometimes felt like she would never understand what Brokenshard was thinking. "Well Brokenshard I won't hate you if you want to leave the clan." Crimsonstar meowed, she hated that she was even giving Brokenshard the chance to leave the clan. But she would never want a warrior in her clan that was not sure if they wanted to stay.

The tip of her tail flicked as she thought over her leader's words. "I don't know what to do. I....I don't even....know who I... can trust." Her ears flattened against her head and her eyes were narrowed. "Everyone has been kind to me, ever since my kits were killed. But I still feel like I can't trust any of them, not even myself. I don't want to leave, but staying isn't helping anyone. I feel completely useless. I don't know if I'll ever be my old self again."

The dark orange she-cat took in a deep breath and let it out slowly. What in Starclans name was she going to do with Brokenshard. "You know you can always trust me Brokenshard, your a lot of help in the clan. I don't think that it's bad that you will never be your old self again. Losing kits will change you, losing them could of changed you for the better you never know. The fact is that your kits are gone and sitting here acting scared out of your fur won't help anything." Crimsonstar sighed hoping she was making her point to Brokenshard. She needed to know that just because she lost her kits doesn't mean she has to give up and live a unhappy life.
"Well Brokenshard I can't do anything more to help you. Its up to you to decide if you are truly happy staying with Shadowclan. I do know that the clan will miss you if you do decide to leave." Crimsonstar was surprised at herself for having sounded so kind. I hope I'm not going soft she thought to herself. That was one thing she never wanted to do was go to easy on her members of her clan. But at the same time she knew that sometimes even she had to be nice.

The small tortoiseshell she-cat nodded gently. "I'll try. But I just can't help feeling that somehow having my kits killed by my own mate was some kind of punishment from Starclan. I don't know if I'll ever be my old self again but I'll try to be a bit happier." Brokenshard looked up at the slowly brightening sky. "I wonder if my kits are happy in Starclan."

"Of course they are happy up in Starclan." Crimsonstar meowed looking up at the sky. "I don't think they are happy to see how sad you are though." She looked back at the she-cat hoping maybe she could make Brokenshard see that if she moved on with her life everything would be ok. She stood up and stretched her muscles stiff from sitting on the cold ground. The clan was probably worried sick about where she was. Well so much for getting some time by myself. Oh well I'll give my life up if I need to in order to help a clan member. "I hope I have been some help to you Brokenshard, but in the end it's up to you to decided how you are going to live your life."I think you are a great asset to the clan and I would hate to lose you."
