Two blue eyes opened up and saw the world around her. She lifted her head up slowly and saw the sun was shining outside. She got up slowly and gave a long stretch. She padded to the enternace of the apprentice den and felt a cool wind blow past her. It took some time for her eyes to adjust to the outside but soon enough she was able to see clearly. She shook her head and looked at the freshkill pile. Only three things their. I should go hunt.. she thought. Her blue eyes scanned the area and found it was more then quiet, it was silent.
She took a few steps forward and shook the moss off her fur. She regained her balance and looked out of the camp.

Today was a beautiful day. The sun was shining, there wasn't a clud in the sky, and not a sound entered the den of the warriors of Riverclan. The pretty she-cat licked her pelt continuously making sure that she counted. "Twenty-four, Twenty-five twenty.....twenty..." She stopped for a moment, her face lost in deep concentration. What number came after twenty-five. She shook her head smiling and starting over, "one, two, tree."
Most days Mudmask just watched the other cats walk around, but she saw another cat notice that their pile of feed was extremely low. With a bounce in her step and a hop in her step, she bounded to the apprentice. "Promisepaw, hey! How are you?" She walked with the little whited eyed cat out of the clan. Her feet hit the ground and she smiled contently. She loved getting out of the clan. There was something about being stuck in the clan forever that seemed to anoy her. But in the end she was going to be a queen, when ever a great mate came along. "You know i was going to go hunting, and i hunt really well, but the onlything i can cath is fish." She gasped , "Did you know that fish can't breath air? I was so surprised when i found that out. Well i just thought we killed them." She twitched her tail back and forth.
The sun shone brightly and Mudmask's brown legs looked like extentions from the mud which she was on. When she stopped she looked at the little cat, "You don't mind me hunting with you do you? I mean i like hunting, and you seem to be too young to be hunting by yourself, right?

Promisepaw saw the warrior come up to her and she gave a soft smile. "Mudmask, hello!" She then sat down and listened to the she cat and her going on and on about fish and dying and no breathing and now she lost the cat. "Sure, hunting with me would be fine..and yes mudmaks your right I am way too youg to be going off on my own.." she mewed in a light tone.
Promisepaw wasnt mean to anyone ever. She accepted everyone with how they were. She found a little entertainment with mudmask honestly and really liked having her around. She then got up and bounced to the enternace of the camp and looked back, "Hey you coming or what?" With that she bounced out of camp and headed into the forest.

Mudmask gasped and jumped into the air, "Oh you'll let me hunt with you?! No one usually lets me hunt witht them." she lands with another graceful bound her tail swaying back and forth. "They say it's because i scare the fish away with all my talking, and i know it isn't true." She twitches her hears, "You know why i know ths? huh?" Mudmask waits for a moment then just smiles at the little apprentice, "It's because fish don't have ears! Even kits know that! I've never seen a fish with ears, and if they did." She bends down and whispers in her ear, " I think it would be one weird looking fish. And they cal me stupid." Her head sways from side to side, "Thanks for letting me come!"
There was a certain feeling about being with onother cat that made her soul smile, of course, she was always smiling. from ear to ear her pretty face always was platered with the smile that everyone called hers. It was minutes before the she-cat even noticed that the younger cat was ahead of her, "WAIT ON ME-" She ran up side to side with Promisepaw "don't leave me!"

Promisepaw smile at the she cat when she saw how shocked she was when Promisepaw invited her to come with her to hunt. She rolled her eyes when she heard the story about the fish and couldnt help but laugh a bit. She then found the warrior in step with her and she couldnt wait to finally get something fresh kill. Her stomach growled but knew the clan came first.
She then saw a mouse a few feet away from them and she let her tail slide across the warriors mouth and she whispered, "Let's play the quiet game ok? If you can stay so very very quiet Mudmask, this mouse is for you okay?" she gave a little smile and was being serious.
She then stalked the mouse and felt her muscles tense up. She then stopped and saw the mouse rise its nose up in the air. She closed her eyes and hoped that Mudmask wouldnt say anything.

Something about today made the older cat smile. Promisepaw made her feel young again made her laugh and smile. She followed the younger cat and was told to be quiet. There was somehting about being told that pissed her off, almost as much as being told that she was stupid.
Mudmask stopped before the she-cat could say another word and sat, wrapping her dark brown tail around her paws. If she wasn't going to be able to talk, she was going to pout. It wasn't fair. She loved to talk. "I like talking." she murmured looking at the mouse who's ears stood up. "I forgot they had ears."

Her heart stopped and she prayed to starclan that it would go back and put its head down. Thankfully it looked away and that was her moment to shine. She then let her claws come out and she sprinted forward and chased after the mouse. She gave a leap and then got the mouse under her paws and gave it a quick bite and it stopped moving. She gave a smile and picked it up and trotted back to her friend. She set it on the ground and mewed, "Well, I made a promise, you were quiet and now this is yours." She was honestly very greatful that she cat was quiet for a few seconds. She then saw some trouble in her eyes and promisepaw apologized, "I'm sorry I made you be quiet, I know you love to talk and I love hearing you talk honest.."

She watched the cat chase after the mouse and then smiled when she brought the animal back to her. But when the little cat spoke she shook her head, "No, i don't want it silly. I don't eat prey like that. It makes my pelt too rough." she giggled and then tilted it to the head slightly, "but you can burry it for now and we can bring it back to the clan. OH maybe one of the elders would want it. They are very happy when an apprentice brings them prey." She licked at her pelt and then gazed through her iceblue eyes at Promisepaw, "I'm glad you like my talking, even our leader won't take me to gatherings because i talk to much- but it's ok, i love her anyways." She stood and started walking to the river, "I like hunting fish better, it makes my pelt shinny."
She sat at the edge of the river, talking to the fishies, "Here little sweeties, i don't want to eat you!" she brought her paw slowly up into the air, making sure that her aim was correct, "i just want to hug you, and love you, and call you...uh...fisshy." She giggled and then with exact aim, she chopped her paw into the water and a fish flew out, hitting the ground with a sickening crack. She broke its nect, to put it out of its missery. [/blockquote]

Promisepaw tilted her head and listened to her friend. She then looked down at the mouse and shrugged. Maybe the elders would like it more. She did as she was told and burried her prey. She then looked up at the warrior and felt bad that she dosent go to gatherings. Promisepaw loved gatherings. She followed her friend to the river and sat down and watched Mudmask at work. She could help but giggle seeing her friend talk to the fish.
She watched closely and found that she got one and killed it in a swift bite. "Wow! That was great!" She then got up and padded over to the dead animal and Mudmask and gave a blink at the fish then up at her friend.

"Have you ever been to a gathering? I haven't been to one since after my accident, but i don't really know why they don't want me to go. It must be because of my talking." She shrugged lightly watching the little white cat come up behind her and watch her hunt. It was so fun to feel the surge of energy brought on my starclan knows what when she hunted.
"Thanks!" Mudmask murmured knocking another one out of the water and putting it in the pile with the other one. "fish are my favorite. I only eat them because they make my pelt so soft and shiny." she grinned licking her pelt once more, "Who is your mentor." She tilted her head to the side, "You do have a mentor don't you?" Shock was slowly starting to run through her body. What if the little cat didn't have a mentor? What would her leader think if she had this cat out by herself. She could get in big trouble. Promisepaw thought about her question and looked down. "I havent really been to a gathering no. Ive always wanted to go to one though! Only the time hasnt come yet for me to go to one sadly. I hear they are amazing and you see so many different types of cats and meet new friends..only your not allowed to be friends with cats from other clans I hear because if you go into battle with them and you end up fighting them then..I dont know what your gonna do.." She then sat and listened to the fish making her pelt shiny and soft. She never knew that fish did that. Then the real question came.
She flattened her ears and promisepaw fell silent. "I dont have a mentor.." she whispered not wanting to look up at the warrior. "I guess our leader forgot about me. I'm really not that important anyway.." she finished.

There was so much excitement in the little cats voice that mudmask had to jump up and smile, her tail swaying from side to side and she bounced like a kit about to be named an apprentice, "The gatherings are so much fun my first one, i met one of my best friends." She tilted her head for a moment and then squinted her eyes, "Well at least i think i did." She sat down and licked at her paws, gently rubbing behind her ears. "I was in a fight with shadowclan a moon after, and i don't really remember what happened or anything, most warriors tell me that i lost my memory, so thats just what i believe."
Mudmask padded over to the sad apprentice and smiled, "Don't be sad, really! you don't need to be sad. There really isn't anything called sad. What i believe is that there is an absence of happy." She nudge the kitty, "you can have some of my happy if you want, i don't mind sharing."
"You could be my apprentice! I've never had one, but you should be mine!" [/color][/blockquote]

Promisepaw looked up at the warrior and smiled weakly hearing about the gathering. She then felt the warrior nudge her trying to get her to smile and finally she did. "You really mean it?! You would want me as your apprentice?" Her heart pounded faster then a cat running and her eyes sparkled like the stars in the night sky. She really liked having Mudmask around and she had a feeling this warrior knew a lot. Losing memory or not. "You really think our leader would be okay with you training me?" she beamed.

Mudmask couldn't bear to see anyone upset. It brought back memories from when her mother found out that she couldn't remember anything. Nothing could have prepared her mother for that, but Mudmask was the cat who was really hurt from all of this- she should be. Actually, she happens to be one of the happiest cats in all of Riverclan. Why? no one seems to know! "I would Love to be your Mentor- as long as you think i'm smart enough" She laughed and shook off any remaining leaves off of her body. "And as long as Our leader says so, we can start training soon!"

Promisepaw purred at the warrior, "Of course I think your smart enough! And that would be great!" she mewed. "I cant wait to start training! I'll get to know how to fight, how to hunt, how to fish and so much more!" Promisepaw never thought this day would ever come. She had been mentorless for a while and couldnt believe the day was here. Even seeing Mudmask even wanted her as an apprentice. She couldnt ask for a better mentor better yet friend.
"What would we do first Mudmask?" she asked with excitement running through her body.
