The tom nodded appreciatively at her catch. His ears flicked as heard the sound of a mouse nearby, scuttling among the roots of a bush. It was round and plump, rather large for a mouse but it didn't really matter.
Silently he crept closer, his hunting crouch perfectly balanced. Every time it looked up he froze, he light ginger pelt blending in with their surroundings. As soon as it went back to foraging he moved closer, every muscle in his body tensed and ready for action. Suddenly he was a blur of motion, his claws outstretched as he leapt at the unsuspecting mouse. He landed quietly and with a sharp bite killed the mouse before it even realized what was going on.

Autumnflower grinned. "impressive, Fadedpaw." She said while looking him over. He'll make a great warrior. she thought to herself. I'll keep my eyes on him, maybe make him my apprentice, if he continues to show promise.
She shook her head for a moment before looking back to the young tom. "should we go back to camp or would you like to continue our hunt?"

"Thanks." Dropping his kill at his paws he sat, tail curling around his paws. His head tilted to the side at her question. They had both been out of camp for awhile, so they would be expected to have more freshkill then this. "We should keep hunting. They wouldn't appreciate us being out of camp for so long and only bringing back this meager ration. You may not get in as much trouble, but I would end up cleaning out the elder's den for a moon."

She chuckled. "I suppose you're right. and I wouldn't want to see you cleaning out that stink-pit." She grinned again and slipped under a bush, leaving Fadedpaw with a parting glance as she disappeared to catch her prey.
She appeared soon enough with a lizard and mouse. She moved them over to her pile of kill.

He moved on to hunt as she disappeared. His senses were on full alert as he hunted, always searching, listening for even the smallest hint of prey. His patience and persistence paid off when he returned with a rock dove and two mice.
As he dropped his prey and sudden noise behind him made his spin around, fur on edge. It didn't have Autumnflower's sweet scent, it didn't even smell like a cat. He lifted his blue-green eyes, meeting a dark amber pair belonging to a fox.

Autumnflower turned around lazily around when she noticed movement out of her peripheral vision. She hadn't noticed the scent over the smell of their hunt. But as soon as she saw the fox a hiss escaped her, the sound was menacing and had a slight gurgle that sounded even more horrific. Autumnflower raced to her friend's side and stood tall, her hackles standing on end an her tail puffed out like a raccoon's. The fox was probably there to steal prey, and might not give up without a fight, but they'd give 'em hell if they asked for it.

He relaxed, though only slightly, when he felt the presence of his friend beside him. At least they stood a better chance together then alone. With a low growl he gave out a warning before launching himself at the fox, his claws outstretched. Just inches from its sharp teeth he changed direction, darting to the side and slashing at its side. Though he would have preferred not to fight this would be the only way they could get the fox to leave. Then they would report it to the clan and a patrol would be sent out to make sure it had left the territory.

Autumnflower yowled and charged the wolf, aiming straight for it's face. When she leapt up at it's head, it's teeth grazed her flank and hindpaw, but nothing serious. She managed to sink her claws into the foxes head, she bit into it's ear while her claws were fast at work tearing flesh from it's skull as she worked her was towards it's eyes.

With a deep breath he leaped at his from behind, landing squarely on its back, claws digging deep into its sides as he fought to hold on. A low growl rumbled from his chest as he sunk his teeth into the back of its neck.
With a yelp the fox spun, frantically trying to get him off, though Fadedpaw hung on as best he could. In one last attempt the fox began to roll, its greater weight would easily crush the apprentice. Just in time he jumped off its back, making a shaky landing on four paws. With a shake of his head he regained his balance, eyeing the fox for an opening.
